Result for the presidential election 2011

Dr Tan Cheng Bock- 737 128 (34.85%)
Mr Tan Jee Say- 529 732 (25.04%)
Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam- 744 397 (35.19%)
Mr Tan Kin Lian- 103 931 (4.91%)
Rejected votes- 47 826
Total votes cast- 2 153 014

Dr Tony Tan was declared the seventh president of the Republic Of Singapore with the highest number of votes among the other three candidates. It was a close fight between Dr Tan Cheng Bock and Dr Tony Tan as Dr Tony Tan only won by 7 269 votes (0.34%) from the runner up, Dr Tan Chang Bock.
Mr Tan Jee Say produced a "not bad" result of 529 732 votes which is slightly more than a quarter of the valid votes while Mr Tan Kin Lian secured less than one - twelve of the valid votes and he will lose his S$48 000 election deposit.
This presidential election has the most number of candidates contesting since the last contest took place in 1993. Tan Kin Lian is the only candidate to lose his lose his election deposit after he failed to obtain one- twelve of the votes in the presidential race as well as sercuring the lowest score of only about 5 % of the valid votes.
